Fly is defined as severe respiratory infection that is spread by the flu viruses. Most kinds of flu are contagious since it is respiratory infection. The virus generally enters through nose, eyes or mouth and when you touch any of those you have the possibility of infection. Hence it is important to keep your hands germ free by washing them frequently with a hand wash. Clean hands prevent the spread of flu. The common symptoms of flu are fever, soreness, headache and fever.

There are four different types of flu, they are

  • Seasonal Flu: This type of flu is common and it occurs mostly every year during winter. IT spreads through communities and places of public gathering like schools. Within three weeks of its outbreak the seasonal flu is at its peak and again it takes three to four weeks to subside.
  • Pandemic Flu: This type of flu spreads from one person to another and is responsible for global pandemic.
  • Avian Flu: This is also known as Bird flu, it occurs in wild aquatic animals, pigs, and humans. It generally transforms from pigs to humans but there has been instance when it has directly transforms from birds to humans.
  • Swine Flu: This is AHINI type of virus that is extremely contagious and humans are still to develop immunity against it. Most of its symptoms are like common flu but on more extreme level.

The flu viruses responsible for the above mentioned flu are distinguished as type A virus, Type B virus and Type C Virus.

Type A virus is mostly found in animals such as ducks, chicken, pigs, whales and humans. Wild birds are mostly responsible for spreading this type of virus. Swine flu is example of type A virus. This type of virus is generally responsible for epidemics. This is the most dangerous of three viruses. This virus was responsible for outbreaks around the world in the year 1918, 1957, and 1968. There are subtypes of type A which includes H5N1, AH1N1, and H9N2 etc. These names are defined based on the lab identification number, the year when it was found and type of HA or NA the subtype has.

Type B virus is mostly found in humans. It does not cause pandemics and it is less severe than Type A virus. But it can be harmful as well in some cases. This type of virus does not have any subtypes like type A.

Type C virus is found in dogs, pigs as well as humans. It is milder than type A and Type B virus. It does have any subtypes and it does not cause any epidemics or global outbreaks. They are curable and often not a threat.

These viruses are classified depending on their protein composition.

Most people take about a week to recover from flu but people who have less immunity such as older people or small children may take a little while to get better. Depending on the type and spread flu can be life threatening.
